Wuguan Books doesn't care about having the biggest selection. Instead, it focuses on creating an experience.

"Although we don't have a massive selection like a normal bookstore, people spend longer times (here) to communicate with books," Su said. "The dark environment has helped people to pick up books they dare not to pick up in other bookstores. Mostly erotic, but also books about souls, emotions or negative energy. It helps people to summon up their courage to be rebellious, or face their wounds."

Kang worked to find the ways to enhance alternative senses for the reader to reduce consciousness of self and their surroundings. His intention was to create a space where one can let go of the boundaries and shackles. To present this message, he designed the entrance of the store representing a Chinese mourning hall with a message to celebrate the death of one’s inhibitions. With the ambiance he wants to allow visitors from every culture to embrace loneliness and open the mind to imagination.

這深具儀式性的場域實在有太多令人費解好奇的特性，首先談起令人玩味的店名，背後邏輯源自一針見血的觀察：「當代咖啡店賣的其實不是咖啡，而是氣氛、品牌甚至是對西方文化的崇拜。所以，書店賣的不是書。」朱志康以一個簡單類比引出為書店命名的靈感：「反之，我們賣的不僅僅有氣氛，還有回憶、和更關注自我的機會。我們不想讓客人覺得來這裡是為了買書，而是希望他們找到一本『咦？我居然會喜歡』的書」。

除了多數讀者喜愛的文學之外，在對生命上的探索、萬物法則或像《人類童年學》這類的書籍，對無關來說也是充滿吸引力。在現今普世大眾推崇著正面思考與樂觀態度，卻少有真正去直面像是憂鬱症、躁鬱症等精神層面難以理解或不被理解的部分，因此以不同角度去探索精神層面與社會、家庭兩者間關係的書籍，也是我們想聚焦的。而科學裡一些較不為人知、有趣的部分，像是《開膛史》——聽起來很恐怖，但談的是外科醫生與解剖學；或是《醉人植物博覽會》——探索會讓人很「dizzy」的植物（笑），這些也是在其他書店較少能推廣的。

無關實驗書店禁止的其實是不真實、尚未成熟的事情，要人們直面成年而真實的自己；「我們希望這間書店，能夠喚起大家對看待整座世界的另一種角度，」一如朱志康本身跳出了身為空間設計師的框架，以剝奪視覺為前提打造作品，他希望自己親身涉入的實驗，也能成為發生在更多人身上的實驗：「不要眼見為憑，要去看雙眼不可見之後，那些更為真實的事物」。

「無關」投下的第一顆震撼彈，以宛如告別式會場的純白玄關破題，象徵在此告別社會框架下的自己，拋開他人的眼光和期待，真實面對自我。白牆上入場規則寫成莞爾一笑的幽默，緩和因疑惑而緊張的情緒，揭開布簾，外界再無關聯，黑暗中只有最純粹的靈魂樣貌。
