We have a saying on Islay, "Come for the whisky, return for the island". During the last week of May each year, the island of Islay welcomes visitors from across the world to help us celebrate our culture our music and of course our world-renowned single malt whiskies. The event runs over the course of a week. Whether it's the whisky that draws you here, you are bound to be mesmerized by the combination of tastings, tours, beaches, walks, ceilidhs, sunsets, and sunrises

Established almost 30 years ago, the festival of music and malt draws visitors from across the globe to the shores of the island each year to experience its community, culture, and its world-renowned whisky. Fèis Ìle, which was initially staged to revive the island’s traditional Gaelic culture, has grown to become the major showcase for Islay’s food and drink operators.

The isle of Islay has always been highly regarded as the ultimate capital of Scotch Whisky. Whisky enthusiasts from around the world are known to make the pilgrimage to the island every year off the west coast of Scotland. It is most famous for its Islay malt whiskies that are often associated with a distinct peaty and smoky flavour. Known as top tier malt whisky producers amongst more than 150 distilleries in Scotland, of which Laphroaig and Bowmore often being regarded as legendary, if not the best.

Hosting nine world class whisky distilleries across 240 square miles, the island hosts one of the world’s most impressive whisky festivals, the Fèis Ìle (pronounced 'feish eel'), showcasing everything Islay has to offer. Whisky tastings, and masterclasses throughout the nine-day long festival. Most coveted of all, however, are the bottles of whisky released by each Islay distillery celebrating the Feis, and their value on the secondary market rapidly increases once they’ve been released.
